General Data Protection Regulation

As you may know, new data protection regulations came into force on 25
May 2018. This is one of the biggest changes to UK data privacy law and
a full explanation of the changes can be found on the website of the
Information Commissioner's Office. The new regulations give individuals
more rights and protections in how their personal data is used by
organisations. Parishes must comply with its requirements just like any
other charity or organisation.

The PCC has prepared a new Data Privacy Notice which explains how we
use what is known as "personal data", i.e. information about a living
individual who can be identified from that information.

The full text of the Data Protection Notice can be seen here:
Wantage Parish Data Protection Notice

The PCC is undertaking a review of the personal data held for Parish
purposes. As part of this, we are trying to speak to everyone who holds
contact details or other information about church members, perhaps
because they organise a rota or Parish activity (or have done so in the
past). If you are one of these people and we have not yet been in touch
with you, please contact Alastair Hunter on
07785 371558 or speak to one of the churchwardens. Alternativly you can email Alastair at:

We only use information about church members for purposes connected
with our churches and with services we provide for church members. The
new regulations allow us to continue to do this - you do not need to do

We do not share your data with third parties who are not church
members and will not do so in future without your consent.
If you have any questions about any of this, you are welcome speak to
one of the Church Wardens.
