1.30pm Talk: Jude Barrett from the Ashmolean Museum

Jude Barrett will be talking about the Alfred Jewel and other Saxon treasures in the Museum collections.

2.30pm Talk: Mike Carden, author of Alfred of Wessex

Mike Carden will be talking to the Revd Katherine Price about the challenges and joys of writing historical fiction about the Saxon past.

5pm – 6.30 AETHELFLAED: A New Opera! UK preview tour. £20 adults; concessions available.

Based on the life of King Alfred’s daughter, Aethelflaed is a new opera written in Old English! Members of the cast will present a recital of music from the opera, touring the UK in advance of the full staging next year. BOOK ONLINE NOW!
