We were shocked and saddened to hear of Sue’s sudden death on Sunday 29 May 2016.  We hold her in our prayers together with her son Anthony and her family.  We received her body into church on Thursday 16 June2016 at 5.00 pm and celebrated Evening Prayer. Her Funeral Mass was at 10.30 am on Friday 17 June 2016 followed by Committal at the Church Gate. May she rest in peace and rise in glory.

A Statement from Fr. John:

I am very pleased to announce that I have agreed to appoint a Curate and we will be joined in the Parish of Wantage by Dr. Orazio Camaioni, as a Deacon in training for Priestly Ordination. Fr. Camaioni will come to us after his Ordination as Deacon at Christ Church Cathedral on 2nd July, 2016.

As his name suggests, he is an Italian from Abbruzzo; born of an Italian Father and an English Mother.  He is a classist with a Masters Degree in Philology* and a doctorate has been awarded to him in the same discipline by the University of Reading.  He is presently reading a Theology degree at S. Stephen’s House, Oxford.

He will marry Sylvia in May, returning to Italy to celebrate their marriage in their home town.

I would ask that you keep them both in your prayers as together we discern how best we can develop his vocation in our Parish.

*Editors Note:
Philology is the study of language in written historical sources; it is a combination of literary criticism, history, and linguistics. It is more commonly defined as the study of literary texts and written records, the establishment of their authenticity and their original form, and the determination of their meaning

Keeping Advent 2014As the movement to Christmas accelerates it is so easy to loose sight of what is important to us - the celebration of the Incarnation. To help us pause for just five minutes each day, here is  a prepared diary of Bible Readings. These readings will help us keep a common meditation for the whole Parish. They can be seen here and down loaded if required.
