The PARISH PILGRIMAGE TO WALSINGHAM is booked from Friday 10th September – Sunday 12th September 2010.  Fr Michael can vouch that the accommodation at the shrine, the meals, the beauty of the buildings and gardens are better than ever!  Do join us, particularly if you have not been on pilgrimage before.  Cost £103.30 (Full board – travel not included), reduced rates for children.  We have 15 places. Speak to the clergy if you are interested. Fr Michael needs a £20 deposit from you by 17th June to book your place!

Oxfordshire Historic Churches Trust Sponsored Ride & Stride  - A sponsored event to raise money for our chuch and also The Oxfordshire Historic Churches Trust.  Countywide, churches are open and you can cycle or walk round to visit as many as you can.  Helpers will be required to man our churches and offer a welcome.  Details will be in both churches soon with rotas to sign up to as well.   Get the cyle clips and rucksack ready!  Details from Ann and Andrew Gregory 01235 223503

PARISH BOOK CLUB: The next book for discussion is Alone in Berlin by Hans Fallada ISBN:978-0-141-18938-3. A gripping novel based on a true story set at the beginning of WWII. First published in 1947 it was only translated in 2009. We will be meeting in the Board Room (Upstairs) of the King Alfred’s Head at 7.30pm on Wednesday 15th September. The Parish Book Club is on holiday for a month giving members/congregations longer to read the next book. As always we welcome new members. Please feel free to pop in for a friendly drink and chat about the book in September.

Open Door Retreat in The Parish Church
Please keep focused on the visit of Fr. John Gribben CR from Mirfield who will be with us from 26th September for the week to lead us through Silence to a better understanding of ourselves and of God.  Taking time to be open and aware of God’s presence in our lives is not an extra but at the centre of our lives as Christians.  Bishop John is trying to make the whole diocese aware of this and our Retreat is in response to his call

Wantage Parish Church: THE ADVENT DAY: This year we return to offering a day for Primary School Children from 10.0 am until 3.00pm.  We need stimulating ideas and offers to lead activity groups.  We have a huge range of skills in our congregations so please lets have the support that shows we are a vibrant and inspiring Church!
